CNG Cars, The Only Freedom from Foreign Oil

February 25th, 2010 3 comments

Most of us are still recovering from the high gas prices that plagued the nation back in 2008.  Since that time, oil companies have continued to gain strength and paying over $2.60 for a gallon of gas is normal.  The sad thing is that oil companies have made record profits within the last 2 years, and high gas prices are not helping a nation dwindling in optimism and desperate for jobs.  What can be done about this?

The main problem is our dependency on foreign oil.  Did you know that America has enough resources right here at home to be completely self sufficient without the aid of any foreign country?  Natural gas is seeping out of the ground naturally, and we arent even capturing it!  One of the neatest things about natural gas wells is that once they are depleted, given enough time, they will refill.  This is a renewable resource!  Oil is not.  So what can people like you and me do to help get the everyone else on the band wagon?  There have been some positive signs for alternative energy with windmills and solar panel farms being built around the nation.  T. Boone Pickins shows commercials all the time about switching our large semi fleets to natural gas resources.  Companies like Honda are definitely going the right route as they build CNG civic’s and are also working on newer vehicles that will run on natural gas.

Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler used to make CNG cars, but do not anymore and have not since 2004.  The biggest problem people run into when looking for a CNG car is that there usually is not a commercial CNG station near their home for them to fill up.  Companies have solved this issue by creating pumps that can fit in your garage to use the natural gas of your home.  Can you imagine never having to go to a gas station again?  This dream i a reality, its just that not enough people have jumped on the wagon so to speak.  The main way that CNG cars will become main stream is if we get more cng stations built around the nation.  Once these stations are mainstream, CNG cars will follow.

CNG, LPG, Bi Fuel and the Hybrid Revolution

Cng, Lpg, Bi Fuel and Hybrid Cars are the wave of the future.   Stop being a slave to foreign oil and tap into the renewable resource of natural gas.   Did you know that once a natural gas reserve is depleted that it will refill within ten years?  Did you know that natural gas is coming out of of the ground all around the nation and is not being harnessed?  Natural gas really is the answer to stopping the enslavement of our country to foreign oil.  In our site you will learn a comparison to cars that are dual or bi-fuel and gasoline, these figures will help you understand the benifits of these vehicles from Austrailia to the USA

CNG cars have been in use for the last 20 years by the government and other agencies.  Until recently the technology has not been common public knowledge, but with rising gasoline prices more people are starting to take advantage of this technology.  CNG is one resource that is an alternative fuel but there are others.  LPG is another resource that we use every day.  We use propane in our outdoor grills and forklifts etc.  These technologies are quite simple to understand, they replace regular gasoline.

Many people think that by owning a cng car or an lpg car that the engine parts are totally different and that they are very difficult to repair and maintain.  This is not true. The components of the car stay exactly the same and if fact a cng conversion kit can be installed on brand new cars to make it compatible with cng or lpg.  There is hardware added that makes your engine work with these types of fuels so everything else in the engine stays the same.  A CNG conversion kit is considered an aftermarket product.  The reason is that its just like putting new rims on a vehicle.  It deosn’t change the workings of the vehicle, it just adds something to it.  The same analogy works for cng conversion kits.

Did you know that cng cars run 90% cleaner than normal vehicles that run on regular gasoline?  CNG cars on average at least double the normal engine life of a regular car because of how clean natural gas burns.  If you owned a dedicated cng car you would only have to change your oil once a year because of the cleanliness of cng.  There have been many documented accounts of cng vehicles going over 1 million miles before they bite the dust!

Alot of people also wonder about where they can fill up a CNG car.  Many states have fill stations and many more are building them.  There are kits available that allow you to fill up your CNG car with the natural gas in your home.  The nice thing about CNG cars is that many of them are bi fuel cars.  Bi fuel simply means that they can run on two different types of fuel.  This is very convenient because if there is not a CNG fill station near all you have to do is fill up your bi fuel car at a regular gas station which allows you to still be able to drive your vehicle.  Most bi fuel vehicles allow you to switch the fuel by the flip of the switch and it switches the gasoline  so efficiently that you can even be driving when you do this and you won’t even feel it switch over.

As you can see the world of CNG, LPG, Bi fuel and hybrid cars is the wave of the future.  Please take a look at the other pages on our website to educate yourself on the savings, safety, and the pride that can be achieved by owning a CNG car or adding on a CNG conversion kit.

Why should I buy a dual fuel car?

June 15th, 2009 3 comments

A dual fuel automobile is a vehicle that will operate on two or more types of fuels. There are many alternative fuels available, not just petrol. The advantages to owning a dual fuel automobile are:

Fuel costs are reduced dramatically. For example, compressed natural gas (CNG) in Utah is .73 per gallon. The current petrol price is $4.08 per gallon. To fill a 12.8 gallon tank of CNG would cost $9.34 compared to $52.22 for petrol. If you fill your tank every week your savings would be $2229.96 per year. If you live in a 2 car home the savings would be $4459.92. That is a savings of $371.66 per month!

You may drive in the car pool lane alone by owning a dual fuel automobile. This could save you hours of commute time, thus allowing you more time to spend with your loved ones and not in bumper to bumper traffic.

Dual fuel automobiles when operated with CNG and not petrol are environmentally friendly. The use of natural gas as a fuel reduces vehicular exhaust. Carbon monoxide emissions are reduced by 70-90% and Hydrocarbon emissions by 40-60%. Carbon dioxide emissions, a cause for global warming, are also reduced significantly.

When operating a dual fuel automobile with CNG your costs to maintain the vehicle will go down and the life of your engine will go up. CNG does not contain lead which extends plug life. CNG will not contaminate or dilute crankcase oil.

Many vehicles may run on CNG, Propane, Ethanol, Hybrid Electric, Petrol and Hydrogen. Each type of vehicle will have advantages and disadvantages depending on where you live and the infrastructure of the fueling capabilities. However, most of Americas’ fuel crises were produced because we allowed ourselves to have very few options. Owning a dual fuel auto you will never be left without options again. You will be left with your personal choice of what fuel you want to operate your automobile under.

These are all great advantages to owning a dual fuel car.  They are considered cheap cars because they last so much longer with less maintenance.
